Winamp is undoubtedly the most accessible music playback application I have seen to date. There is a wide variety of features offered by the application itself and a wide variety of JAWS specific features. I have had more than one person tell me they downloaded it however and JAWS refuses to work with it. This is generally because the user has installed Winamp with all of its default configurations. The Classic skin must be used. During Winamp install, the user can do a couple of things. First, do not install modern skin support, this will force Winamp to use the older, more accessible skins. Second, when choosing the default skin, switch to the Classic radio button, marked as having more accessibility. NotesFreedom Scientific does provide a help topic entitled "Optimizing Winamp" which can be found under the Popular Applications book and then Winamp. Additionally there is documentation on all of JAWS specific and nonJAWS specific keyboard commands, which is why I did not reiterate them here. Keep in mind if you accidentally press something and are unsure of what it does, you can turn on keyboard help by pressing JAWSKey+1 followed by the keystroke. Press JAWSKey+1 to exit keyboard help when finished. The JAWSKey is often the INSERT key. I have used JAWS 6.0 and later to develop these instructions; if you have an older version these instructions may or may not be accurate.
