JAWS Dictionary files are used to help tell JAWS how to pronounce certain words and/or how to pronounce groups of words. For example each time JAWS sees JFW I could have it say JAWS for Windows. Like all JAWS setting files, you can create application specific files or you can edit the default file. Below I'm working on creating some for common use. You can either download the files or choose to view them for editing or appending to your existing files. If you choose to download the files, you will need to rename them to the default.jdf file, or the application specific file and place it in the correct directory. Remember that as with all material, a reasonable attempt has been made to verify the usability of this information, but that errors can exist and that JAWS may behave unexpectedly. See general disclaimer below. Strong Language | View | Download This dictionary is an attempt to "beep" out common swear words. Use this to avoid possibly offending material. AOL Instant Messenger Emoticons | View | Download JAWS can read the built-in graphical smileys in AIM with this dictionary. You'll need to disable graphical smileys for it to work properly.
